Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-16-05  zb2cr: This is the only game Solovtzov has in the database--and he beats Chigorin, who in 1884 would have been near his peak. And the victory looks deceptively easy, almost effortless.

If 33. ... Kg7; 34. Rh7+, Kg8; 35. Rxg4+ and mate next move.

If 33. ... Kg8; 34. Bxd5+, Rf7 ( if 35 . ... Kg7; 36. Rxg4+, Qg5; 37. Rgxg5#. ); 35. Rxg4+, Qg5 ( if 35. ... Kf8; 36. Rh8#. ); 36. Rgxg5+, Kf8; 37. Bxf7 and White wins with 2 Rooks against a Knight and a pair of connected passed Pawns.

Jan-28-08  sambo: Now that he has been reclassified, Solowzov is less of a mystery. His other games don't feature him quite as sharp as this one though.
