Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-12-12  Zugzwangovich: Smirin missed a forced draw (all he needed to advance) with 34.Qh5 Qxh5 followed by perpetual check with the g1 Rook backed up by the c3 Bishop.

der623: To Zugzwangovich: I am not so sure. After Black takes the Queen, on the first discovered check, which I assume will be on g5(To recover the Queen), Black can interpose the Rook on e5.

Assuming White chops off the Rook with check, and recovers the Queen, Black can drag his bishop to g5, and the Rook is trapped, and Black's king can go to g6 to pick up the rook. I think Black will come out of this a pawn up in a rook ending. Did I miss something?

Mar-13-12  Zugzwangovich: <der623> Looks like you're right. My bad.
Mar-13-12  Granny O Doul: I am guessing Black's 22nd move was actually ...Kg8. If not, perhaps someone can tell me why White does not capture the pawn on f7.
Mar-13-12  Zugzwangovich: Spot on, Granny. My source for the game gives Kg8 as Black's 22nd.
