Kibitzer's Corner
May-30-12  backrank: Dzindzi destroys his opponent's bizarre opening system with stunning ease. After 20. Qxd7, the black pawns fall like ripe apples. I don't attach a question mark to 29. ... Kg5 since Black is totally lost here in any case and should have resigned some moves earlier, but he decided to do the spectators a favor and played the move allowing for a truly lovely mating finish! Note how economically the white pieces and pawns are used to force the mate: the white rook keeps the black king off the 6th rank and the e-file, the pawns on g3 and h4 control the black squares, the white king and white bishop (ready to appear on e2 with deadly effect) control the white squares, and as after 33. ... f4 (the only move stopping immediate mate) the white bishop is unable to perform the task, the knight emerges from the back rank and does the trick for him. The final position is a pure mate.
