Actually there are a lot variations like that. For example Aron Nimzowitsch was playing the Bronstein- Larsen variation of the Caro-Kann before either Bronstein or Larsen were born. You can find many more examples of this if you look at the old games (around 1900 to 1940). That's one of the reasons I have a huge distrust of modern opening theory.
