May-30-03  Cerebrate2006: Wow, the BDG draws a previous world champion. Isnt Tom only like 2000 or something?

whiteshark: Dr. Euwe played 20 board simul at Ramstein Air Base rec center on 16 Feb 1978; he won 18, lost one, drew this one. He allowed all opponents choice of color.

fredthebear: It's been said that if one has the chance to draw (drawn by three-fold repetition of the position in this case) against a grand master, much less a world champion, be happy to take the draw! At this event, perhaps Dr. Euwe would have also been satisfied w/a quick draw under the conditions, given that Tom Purser was publisher of BDG World magazine for 15 years. Purser would have had much more experience in these lines than Dr. Euwe.
