Benzol: Nice finish in this game. Does anyone know anything about Fine's oppononent? My info says his surname is Pettersson-Ekelund.
Aug-05-06  jackmandoo: <Benzol>I wrestled a Pettersson in middle school. He would always put me in some sort of leg scissors type move so that our groins would be on top of one another. Needless to say he was my favorite opponett to spar with. Sometimes we would sit for minuites in this hold, Pretending to try and get each other to submit, the look of despair in each others faces were actually faces of awkward and uncomfortable pleasure. The whole gym class would be cheering us on, thinking one of us were about to give. It was fun.

Calli: <Benzol> This game is from a simul against consulting teams. Pettersson and Ekelund were two players consulting against Fine who scored +5 -1 =2 on 26 Jan 1937.

Benzol: <Calli> Thanks for your research. Sounds like the Woodager book on Fine is worth getting. I've got his booklet on Kholmov and I believe he did one on Nikolai Riumin which I was also thinking of getting at some stage.

Calli: <Benzol> It is a very well researched volume. For instance, Chessgames has 363 of Fine's games, but Woodager tracked down 882! The problem is trying to find the book at a reasonable price.
