  Albertan: Byrne could have been a pawn up if he had played the move 30.Rc2 and then he would have had this combination which would have net him a pawn:

30. Rc2 Rc6 31.Bd5 Bxd2

(If 31... Rc7 32. Bxe6 Re7 (32...fxe6?? 33. exd4 Rc4 34. Rxc3 b5 )) 32. Bxc6 dxe3 33. Bb5 Kg7 34. Rc8 Nd4 35. Bd3 b5 36. Kf1 b6 and Fischer would have no compensation for the pawn according to the program Deep Rybka 3.
