Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-09-15  zydeco: Lots of nerves in this game.

Geller used his time very poorly in this match. He thought for half-an-hour over the straightforward 11.c3.

Spassky played a bit inaccurately around move 16 and 17.

Some of the Soviet grandmasters suggested 21.Bxc7 Qxc7 22.Rc1 d4!?

The match book calls 25....f5 a "brave decision, going in for complications when Geller had time trouble in the offing."

27....Bf6?! sacrifices two pawns unnecessarily. Alternatives were 27....Rac8, 27....Ne7, and 27....Qc7.

Geller at this point had about a minute to make the rest of his moves. Spassky was also in severe time trouble.

Geller missed a probable win with 36.Ne4! Bxb2 37.c6 Bd5 38.Nd6 Rf8 39.c7 Bxb7 40.Nxb7 Rc8 41.Nd6.

During the adjournment Spassky and his seconds had worked out a smooth draw with 45....Bc4+ but Spassky forgot the analysis over the board and then found a more complicated path to the draw.

Jun-17-17  edubueno: En el análisis luego de 36 Ce4! debería entenderse como mejor respuesta 36...Ag6!
