Sep-13-08  sadmadbadcad: There seems to be an error in the score here, since 68 g6+ wins. The actual game must have gone 67...Bd3+ 68 Ke5(say). Then 68...Bb5 does seem to draw.

Pawn and Two: <sadmadbadcad> I agree, the above game score is incorrect. The correct final moves were: 66.Kd4 Be2 67.Kc5 Bb5. After 67.Kc5, 67...Bb5 was the only move that allowed Black to draw.

The correct final moves are given in the book, "7 Matches 1905" edited by A.J.Gilliam, who provided the game scores and an account of the match from the publication, "The Match and The Return Match: Janowsky v. Marshall", edited by L. Hoffer.

The correct final moves may also be found in several databases, including Fritz and Chesslive, and the Frank James Marshall Electronic Archive & Museum database.

zanzibar: In addition to the cautions issued above, the PGN itself seems wrong as the last move is given as <67...Bb5.>

(The Bb5 is followed by an illegal "." character).
