Sep-20-06  percyblakeney: Janowski and Lasker would play 15 more decisive games, Lasker winning all of them.

chancho: <percyblakeney> I counted 17 games lost by Janowsky to Lasker from 1909 until 1924. Poor Jan, that's quite a beatdown.
May-18-08  wrap99: What causes the resignation?

  keypusher: <wrap99> After 33....Rxc1 34. Qd2 the weakness of the black king's shelter is decisive, e.g. 34....Rce1 35. Qxd5 R1e3+ 36. Kh4 Rc3 37. Qg5 and White will play Qg7+ and Qg8+, then take the black f-pawn and advance his own. (Shredder)

Still a little surprising that Lasker resigned here, but the game was probably adjourned at this point, so he could have analyzed it overnight and decided it was hopeless.

Jan-29-11  Llawdogg: I think Lasker could see that Janowski's queen was gonna pick him apart, pawn by pawn, so he resigned.

Janowski's knight sacrifice, 18 Ndf5!, was just brilliant. I don't think Lasker saw that coming, nor did he ever recover from it. Even trading his queen for both of Janowski's rooks didn't help.

Great win for Janowski. He flat out owned Lasker in this game.
