Analysis by Rybka 2.2n2 mp 32-bit:

1. (3.16): 86.h6 Rd8 87.Rxb2
2. (2.25): 86.Rxb2 Kxb2 87.h6 Rd5
3. (1.15): 86.f3 Nc5 87.Rxb2

black wins by 86.Rxb2 or 86.h6
Gata decided on the more difficult way to win...86.Rxb2! and Kupreichik resigned on the 95th.

Jan-30-13  CAPPYJAK: my question: on move 32 why did white not play qxkn? simple enough or was this some kind of lapse on gata's part

Chessdreamer: <CAPPYJAK> Move 31 for White is misprinted. 31.Qa6 happened in the game not Qb5.
Jan-30-13  fokers13: Weird how black blows a seemingly winning middlegame.
Jul-23-14  Kurochi: Dvoretsky in his book "Training for a tournament player" writes that Kupreichik could never reveal his full talent just because he had a very poor endgame knowledge and always struggled with it. Despite that he did manage to get an amazing career and become a grandmaster which is also very impressive.
