Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-12-03  ksadler: This is a copy of Karpov vs Vaganian, 1973
Aug-12-03  BeautyInChess: Both copies seem to be wrong watch what happens when black castles. The knight on g8 disappears.
Mar-26-04  Cecil Brown: After 49...Qxb4 50.axb4 how can white win? The doubled f pawns and the kings on the kingside suggest to me that black could have drawn with the queens off.
Mar-30-06  tayer: After 50. axb4 white should win with something like 50. ... Kg7 51. g4 Kf6 52. Kg3 Ke6 53. f5+ Kd5 54. f4 Kc4 55. g5 hxg5 56. fxg5 Kxb4 57. g6...
Apr-22-12  zydeco: 34....Bf8 looks terrible: black should trade off queenside pawns and it seems like it would be difficult for white to win. Mednis annotates this game in How Karpov Wins, gives exclamation points to 14.Qd2, 17.Qxd5, 22.cxd4, 25.Qf3, 26.Rad1, 27.Qb7, 33.Qb5, 35.Qd2, 41.Nf4, 48.a3, 50.f3, and 52.Qe7. Black gets exclamation points for 11...h6, 32....Qc2 and question marks for 12...g5, 34....Bf8, 39....Bd6. He thinks 11.Bg5 is inferior to Be3.
