perfidious: Can anyone verify that Karpov was White in this game? He's made an extraordinary career of grinding wins from this type of position: B vs N on an open board, plus play on both wings and I find it difficult to believe that he'd ever give a relatively weak player (by top-class standards) free rein in this way.
Jul-27-05  Whitehat1963: Excellent execution from the Player of the Day against the reigning world champion. Can anyone verify this is actually Karpov playing white, as <perfidious> points out, it's an unexpected result.
