Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-25-04  Everett: I'm guessing this is a loss on time...
Feb-25-04  Spitecheck: I personally doubt it, more likely it was 1-0, not complex enough to lose on time for white. Fishy, fishy, fishy.

Honza Cervenka: Spitecheck, it was a blitz game. Of course, white is clearly won in the final position, but loss on time is quite probable here.
Feb-25-04  CapAnson: After 53...Rb6 54. Kxc5 Bf2++ is a cute trap, of course any other king move should win.
Feb-26-04  Spitecheck: Ahh blitz, than 0-1 was possible, Seirawan should have had the good grace to resign, the last part of the black game is unbefitting of GM chess.

Mar-04-04  Everett: Why 6...0-0? Centers' closed. Develop and wait. Na6 to Nc7 preparing b5 (Bd7 or a6 if needed) If white plays a4, b4 square is good for black knight. Never understand early castling in this line. Stupid.
Mar-04-04  Benjamin Lau: I admire Seirawan's 8...g5! I wonder why Karpov did not play g4! later on to prevent the ...f5 pawnbreak.

Jonathan Sarfati: Seirawan's new book "Chess Duels" severely castigates his 8... g5; Karpov was already strategically winning after 22. g4; he had swapped off his bad B and prevented Black from doing the same. His flag fell.
