  wordfunph: Polu on this game..

"I have a good recollection of my last meeting with Kasparov in the 1992 Paris Immopar trophy. By playing 1.d4, Garry was certainly expecting to meet my favourite Queen's Indian defence, but that day I had prepared a small surprise in playing the Bogo-Indian. It was clear that he didn't expect it. That gave me a 'psychological edge' even if later I lost the game. Fair enough, but we can consider all that."

Mar-07-12  Everett: I've always enjoyed playing this very sticky version of the Bogo, with 4..c5, interesting pawn formations and plans...

Here the position turns into a hedgehog formation, but the early exchange of DSBs and then LSBs allows White to enjoy the space advantage without the counterpunching typically found in such positions for Black.

I wonder if 10..Ra7 (a flexible move, getting off the long diagonal and seeking more activity on the c-,d- or e-files) along with ..0-0, and playing for an earlier ..e5 is viable. I think Black would be better keeping the LSBs on, or exchanging his for a White N if he locks White's pawns on light squares.

Mar-07-12  Penguincw: Towards the endgame, black lost a lot of pawns and didn't get all of them back.
