  plang: 8 Nb3 is the most popular method of declining the poisened pawn variation however after 13..Nd7 an identical position is reached to one of the main lines (with g4) with the one difference being that the white knight is on b3 rather than on d4. This seems to blacks benefit as it lessens the pressure on e6. Topalov's decision to offer the exchange of queens with 18 Qc3 seems to indicate his lack of whites attacking potential. Seirawan claims that white is still better in the endgame because black is cramped but it seems that the advanced white kingside pawns could easily be a disadvantage in many endgames.
