chancho: Najdorf outplays the great Keres in this game.
Feb-08-08  Abejorral: Deep comment :-)

Black pieces played in a passive way, and blundered, this game looks like a rapid game from two amateurs, not a clasic from those good players.

chancho: <Abejorral> I was not trying to be deep with my comments, just trying to get others to see this game. If you are going to offer such comments as: <this game looks like a rapid game from two amateurs, not a clasic from those good players.> then you should at least offer some insightful suggestions (if you have any) as to how Keres should have played his position.
Feb-08-08  Abejorral: I was just kidding, and well i dont like this game, so, i wont have much to say about it.
Sep-14-08  pom nasayao: By playing 26. Bf6, BQueen is caught right in the middle of the board. Here are Black's options to save her: a)26.__ Bxf6 27. Nxf6 losing the knight. b) 26.__ Rxf6 27. Nxf6+ losing again the exchange. or c)26.__Qxe4 27. Qxe4 f5xe4 28. Rxe6--the WB at f6 is already protected by the WR at f1.
May-13-10  jerseybob: I think one factor here may be overconfidence. In 1939 Keres was a world title contender, one year removed from AVRO, while Najdorf was..who? Reputation-wise that is? I'd recommend preparing e5 with 9..Qc7. Keres' Ne8 is very passive; 10..e5?! opens the game prematurely, and 14..Be6 is simply unbelievable. There's no perfect 14th move for black, but 14..Kh8, planning 15..f5 and if 16.e5,Nc7 to control e6 might hold. Might.
Jun-12-18  wtpy: I think this is a nice game; Najdorf gets a better position; Keres overlooks a tactical resource and Najdorf dispatches him quickly.

plang: Normally 7..Bg4 or 8..Bg4 is played though it has not scored well for Black. 9..Ne8 was a new move that looks slow has not been repeated. Really, this whole line looks like an inferior version of the Gruenfeld. Czeriak suggested 14..Qe7 then followed by ..Be6 avoiding the breakup of his kingside pawns; 14..Nc7 is an alternative approach. 21..Nc7? was the losing move overlooking White's combination starting with 23 f5!. 26 Bf6! is quite pretty.
