fredthebear: Black's 41st and 43rd moves w/his lone remaining rook give him a mate in one threat on the back rank, so he continues on having a much worse position. The game ends when Black resigns after his lone rook is captured on the 47th move. Although it's unlikely a player the caliber of Keres would make such a losing blunder, I too would play on (moving quickly) anytime a checkmate threat is still available. Once the threat of mate disappears, resignation is in order as occurred here.
