DrGridlock: Hard to know what to make of European games played during WW II. Maybe there was nearby shelling to account for Keres 36 ... Qxc4.

Keres has recovered black's sacrificed pawn in the Two Knight's defense, and Rybka has it 0.00 after 36 ... Be6.

Not sure of Keres' thought process, but seeing the pin down the d-file, he over-reached and took the c-pawn. Then Black checks with his rook on the e-file, brings his queen to the e-file with check and a tempo, and removes the pin which kept white's bishop from taking black's queen.

Keres labored on, but the game was lost. Seems a rather elementary tactical reply for Keres to have missed.
