Nov-06-09  OlavDalkeith: very nice final move. Knight on d3 is pinned and cannot take. Pawn on c3 is pinned against the queen. Taking with c3 looses the queen. And King to b1 is mate in one by Re1++ as knight on d3 is still pinned.
Oct-29-11  Riverbeast: Funny pun

Brutal game

Oct-29-11  Riverbeast: Perhaps another pun for this game could be, "Elementary, Holmes!" :-)
Oct-29-11  JoePhysics: Dear Riverbeast: "Perhaps another pun for this game could be, "Elementary, Holmes!" :-)"

Only if Holmes was talking to himself.

Oct-29-11  master of defence: What happens after 19.cxd4?
Oct-29-11  goodevans: <master of defence: What happens after 19.cxd4?>

I guess you mean <20 cxd4>, after which 20 ... Nb4+ 21 Kb1 Rxe1 looks pretty fatal (22 Qxe1? Qa2+ 23 Kc1 Qc2#).

Oct-29-11  Bashful Bob: I donīt understand the pun...

kevin86: The king must block communication between the rook and queen.

If the right hand won't get you:21Kd1 Qxa1+,then the left hand will Kb1 Rxe1#

fm avari viraf: Donald seems to be in a MacDonald Restaurant serving a delicious snacks to my friend Mark. I lost to Mark in a Blitz Intenational Tournament at Hastings, England in 1997. The combo looks elegant & beautiful where White has to surrender.
Oct-30-11  Dr. J: <Riverbeast: "Perhaps another pun for this game could be, "Elementary, Holmes!" :-)

JoePhysics: Only if Holmes was talking to himself.>

Isn't that a TV show - "Holmes on Holmes"?

Phony Benoni: If we use one of his wins, that could be "Holmes Improvement". However, the best Holmes pun I know was a tribute to his unconventional criminological methods: <There's No Police Like Holmes.>
