tamar: I like the abandon with which Pillsbury begins a grand demolition of Bardeleben's position with 15...Ne5!

There is an interlude after Bardeleben takes where the compensation is not all that clear- the g pawn falls- but then 18...Rxf4! comes crashing through.

LIFE Master AJ: Unknown cg? What is that. I would say that if this game cannot be documented then it is spurious.

C. Bardeleben, M. Kempner and Pauli were playing the White pieces. H. Pillsbury, H. Fredrick, S. Kohn, & S. Lesser were Black.

LIFE Master AJ: Has anyone verified this? How would I access such a document?

Steppenwolf: I would try 40. Kf5 right away. The king has to keep moving forward towards its strong pawn and threating g7 if anything is going to save white.

tamar: It is a striking game. Do any of the Pillsbury collections have it?

Sergeant does not, but does Jacques N Pope's "Harry Nelson Pillsbury: American Chess Champion" ?

Pillsbury's consultation games brought out his creative side; I am sure the other players could not calculate with him in this game, but had to rely on his judgment.

24...Qxh1 is an inaccuracy though that almost lets White back into the game. Instead 24...Bf5 would end the game immediately, on account of the threat of 25...Qf4+.

Jan-13-06  shanked: I just rolled off of my chair when I saw AJ ask for a game to be authenticated.

Where is your evidence to prove this game is not spurious? R Schinkmann vs A J Goldsby, 2001 As yet you have failed to production documentation; and you know why? - YOU DON'T HAVE ANY DOCUMENTION TO PROVE YOU ACTUALLY PLAYED IT. I hope your kids don't get taunted by all the other kids at school about their father being a liar.

LIFE Master AJ: <shanked> Too bad you got up.
Jan-14-06  hayton3: <LIFE Master AJ> No evidence - no honest <LIFE Master AJ>. All you have to do now is admit the truth and explain why you fabricated the game R Schinkmann vs A J Goldsby, 2001
