tpstar: Black was playing well until he hit the Wall

Heaven on earth inside my Sugar Walls

Ooo, eee, ooo ah ah/Ting, tang, Wall Wall bing bang

Mar-11-05  Phoenix: It was like playing against a wall.
Mar-11-05  hintza: If only they had played the Ruy Lopez, "Berlin Wall" variation!
Mar-11-05  DanielBryant: Or if they played the Noah's Ark trap, the bishop would just be Another Bricked In By The Wall.
Mar-11-05  aw1988: This is actually a bughouse game. They invited two cousins to play, Jack Wall and Paul Wall. They then ordered beer on the house.
Sep-08-05  Chessman1: Didin't B Wall see 5 Qe2? If 5. Bf5 then 6. g4 and if 5. ... f5 then 6. g4 g6 7.gxf5 gxf5 and black has a bad game.

Honza Cervenka: 13...Bxc2?? is a blunder. After 13...Bg4 played in O'Kelly vs K Darga, 1965 black is not worse.

<Chessman1> 5...f5 is not a legal move after 5.Qe2.

I have to admit that I am a little bit confused here. After 5.Qe2 Bf5 6.g4? (6.Nc3 is fine) black can take the Pawn by Bishop with advantage. 5....f5 is not possible at all as the Knight is sitting on f6 here blocking the f-Pawn. Maybe you have meant 6.Qe2 or 4.Qe2. In all those cases g2-g4 is not good response to Bf5 or f7-f5 due to a Queen check on h4. On the other hand, 6.Qe2 f5?! 7.Nc3 nor 6.Qe2 Bf5 7.Nd2!? (or 7.Nc3) with a little trap (7...Qxd5?? 8.g4! ) is not good for black. Only 6...Qxd5 is fine option for black here as 7.Nc3?! Bb4! 8.Bd2 Qxd2+ 9.Qxd2 Bxc3! gives him better endgame and 7.Nd2 f5 (of course, not 7...Bf5?? for 8.g4! ) 8.g4!? (or anything else) 8...Nc6 gives white no huge advantage as well.

FSR: After hanging a piece and losing in 15 moves, presumably Black was the "Wailing Wall."

HeMateMe: Willie wrote it. He was a successful song writer, before he got his chance as a performer. He also wrote the Patsy Cline hit "Crazy".
Oct-13-11  rapidcitychess: We could say they were bouncing off the Walls.

Or that Bill travels at twice the speed as check.

Or maybe that they were driven up the wall? ;)

"Mr Gorbachev, bring down this wall!" Ronald Reagan

A great song and a great quote...

Game is OK-bad day for black precocious bishops.
