Phony Benoni: An odd combination of King's Gambit and Smith-Morra.

The two queen "give-ups" (hard to call them sacrifices) were probably the best chances available. Black's only other choice instead of 17...Qxd6 was 17...Qe8, when 18.Qh4+ Kg8 19.Ng5 looks deadly.

And 19.Rxe6 is not just being fancy; it's worth giving up queen for rook and bishop to save the knight on d5. Taking the queen just leaves Black down N+P; best just to forget about the whole mess and get ready for the next game.

For the record, the game was played in round 9 of the Canadian Open in Winnipeg. White was rated 2410, Black 2227.
