May-16-12  optimal play: After 36.Qd3 then 36...Qxd3 37.exd3 and whilst White clearly had the better game I'm not sure it was definitely lost for Black at that point? Maybe it was another notorious case of time-trouble for Victor? In any event, this was Polugaevsky's only win in their Candidates semi-finals match, the final score being 8.5 to 4.5 after game #13.
Nov-16-15  jvv: Black is absolutely lost.

None of the four bishops looks very good. Both of Black's bishops look bad, at least at the moment. Korchnoi has a punt with 25...g3. Polugaevsky finds a surprising and very good response: 26. Rc7!

He lets Black play his various threats. He has calculated that they are not serious.

Polu won a pawn on the queenside and thereby the game.

BTW, it is worthwhile watching the career of Black's queen's bishop, making his occasional little trips to the shops at a6 and back home.

Korchnoi was winning this match 5-0 after 7 games. He probably had little motivation for this <game>.

He lost this one, game 8, and then there were 5 draws in a row. Polu says that Korchnoi was much too strong for him in this match.
