Nov-05-04  ChessMan94: Actually, I thought 4. c4 was correct although it was a move I've never seen before. Still, I found the move interesting and wanted to see how many other players have used it as White and to my surprise this is the only game in the database that contains 4. c4. Is that a bad move for White? I mean, if 4 .. dxc4, then 5. Bxc4 or after 4 .. cxd4 White can play either 5. Nf3 or 5. Qxd4. Are these bad moves for White?

Willem Wallekers: There are games with 4. c4 on chessbase and chesslab, but the results for White are very poor. The usual continuation is 4 ... cxd4 5. Qxd4 Nc6. On 5. Nf3 follows Nb4+, which is unpleasant for White.
Aug-30-11  ColeTrane: I wouldve been really scared to go about creating that passed pawn like that, yet Kornoi's king winds up w/the MVP award
