Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-04-04  fred lennox: 7...Nh5 looks like a time saving move. Krammik is not one to take his pieces "outside" the pawns without good reason. 16...Kb8 is a quiet and powerful move. The N or QR has now an extra sq. to go making it harder to predict his strategy. 25 e4 despite the symmetry of the position, white was in no position to open the game. Besides loosing a pawn the white queen never gets back into the game.
Dec-30-04  Poisonpawns: This line can also be met by 2..e6 3.e4 Bb4! 4.Bd3 fxe4 5.Bxe4 Nf6 = but in this game alot of positional tension builds up. I think 19.Nd3!? is a mistake because g4 becomes a target later.25.e4? a blunder dxe4 26.Nxe4? Nxe4 27.Qd4 Bd5 winning.Better was 25.Bxf6 followed by Rdg1 taking pressure of g4 even though black still has advantage. On move 32.Kramnik misses the strong Qa2!but Nb3 locks the Queen in for a while. On move 33.Qg2 threating mate may be whites best.
