Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-17-07  Maynard5: Black loses a minor piece; the pawns are inadequate compensation, even in the simplified position. At the end, Black falls into a rather picturesque mating net. Possibly of greater interest is Smyslov's nice opening play, which saddles Lilienthal with vulnerable doubled pawns on the c-file. Black cannot avoid loss of material.
Apr-24-12  zydeco: Complicated game! I can't figure out why black didn't play 31....Rd8, which is natural and keeps the white knight from doing to d6 after f4, f5. It seems like black will eventually lose the d-pawn but should be able to draw. I don't understand a lot of the opening play: why give black the b2 or e2 pawn?
