White could castle. He does not. I think he is hoping that Black would play ...Bxg3 and open the h-file.

Marshall now launches a winning attack. I was surprised, because at the start White's knight and rook seem to be slightly offside. It is a tribute to Marshall's skill at handling pieces that it is those same two out-of-play pieces that combine to mate the king at the end.

  zydeco: Clean kill by Marshall. 19....h6 loses to 20.Rxc6 with the back rank threat. 20....Bb7 runs into 21.Nd6.

Black is in real trouble as early as move 15, when there's no good way to contest the c-file.
