Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-25-07  ForeverYoung: Some fine positional play by Frank James taking advantage of the backward "c" pawn and piling on it to win it. If 22 ... Ne6 had not been played Bb5 was available dogpiling on the pawn.

GrahamClayton: One of only two decisive games between the top 6 placegetters in the tournament. Vidmar could have been going into the last round half a point ahead of Capablanca, instead of half a point behind.
Jun-07-12  shalgo: This game shows a significant difference between the "true" Lasker variation with 6...h6 7.Bh4 Ne4 and the game line with the immediate 6...Ne4.

On move 17, Black would like to play the freeing 17...c5, but then White can reply 18.Qc2, attacking both h7 and c5. If the moves ...h6 and Bh4 had been included, there would be no fork and Black would be fine.
