  Phony Benoni: Of course, Black leaving a piece hanging detracts a bit from the interest of this game. But he was in trouble anyaway, since bishop moves allow White to win a pawn with 19.dxc6 and 18...c5 19.Qxb4 isn't so hot either.

15.e5 is quite interesting, as White grabs space at the cost of backwarding his d-pawn. I was expecting the d5 psuh instead, now or later, but perhaps Marshall distrusted the simplification involved (for instance, Black can consider ...Ne5).
