Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-29-03  Fulkrum: Well, I don't see it. Why not 25. ..dxc6.
Mar-29-03  I.Carras: That is a good question. It seems that Capa had an off day.I think that if Capa had taken the bishop, it would have been a draw.

Sneaky: Capa?? You mean Marshall! In any case I think you are both right: I think White would have nothing better than a draw. I suspect the move was basically a bluff and Reti got away with it. Marshall must have been afraid of opening up a file against his king, but there was no mate that I can see. Maybe I'm missing something. Crafty? Honza?
Mar-29-03  booman: Looks like White got away with one...

25...dxc6 26.Qf8+ Kc7 27.Qe7+ Kb6 28.Qb4+ Bb5 29.cxb5 cxb5 30.Re1 a5 31.Qxa5 Kxa5 32.Rxe5 and Black is slightly better..

Mar-30-03  I.Carras: ooops!Marshall of course!!! I was sleepy. And I guess that Capa would not have lost in that position.
Mar-30-03  Shock and Awe: Capa never would have gotten into that position in the first place :D
Sep-09-03  Brian Watson: 25...dxc6 26.Qf8+ Kc7 27.Qe7+ Kb6 28.Rb1+ Ka5 29.Qa3#

If 27...Kc8, 29.Rd1 and black can't defend against both Qd7# and Rd8#
