Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-16-12  optimal play: After 23.Bc7 Black would have to play 23...f6 in anticipation of 24.Bd6 but even then it doesn't appear hopeless. Unzicker certainly has the better game but I don't see an imminent mate nor even a crushing material deficit that warrants resignation at this point? Maybe Mikenas was still kicking himself over 11...b4? when all he had to play was simply 11...Nd5 and he was just too discouraged to go on?
