| Feb-09-05 | | RisingChamp: Actually Mortazavi and Shabalov had both chosen an inferior line-as in this line.White has no real winning chances and must take the perpetual(the one which Shabalov declined)Theory considers 7 0-0 to be the best move,and it was the original idea,I believe with best play it is a draw,but the theory is highly obscure and complicated and involves White sacrificing three pieces for a crazy attack which leads to a perpetual,I dont think anyone really knows it,and even if they do,like me they have probably forgotten,its in a chesscafe article by Tim Harding and also on chessbases e4 repertoire CD by Alexander Bangiev.Tsietlins book,the complete Vienna also discusses this. |

| | patzer2: <Rising Champ> Thanks for the tip on the drawing possibilities with 7. 0-0!? The strongest game I could find in the Opening Explorer was G Horvath vs P Petran, 1995, which doesn't offer much help for White.
I'll see if I can't locate the Tim Harding article or some of the other research you mentioned. |

| Feb-10-05 | | RisingChamp: Well actually if you only want a draw Qf3 is fine as well,just go the chesscafe.com archives and check Harding they will be titled Pierce Gambit.He also covers declineed variations (which are all good for white).Incidentally there is also a possibility I think to transpose to the Kings Gambit Declined with Ng1 after g4. |
