alexrawlings: I think this game deserves some comments... I don't think I would have even considered 15... Bh8. At that point, what would justify this exchange sacrifice? I also don't think I would have returned the material as white with 23 Rxe5. Can anyone explain that one?

In any case, I enjoyed playing through this one. I'm currently reading Chris Ward's tough puzzles book which I recommend.

Jun-05-08   Riverbeast: <alexrawlings> ...Bh8 is a common exchange sac in these dragon and kings indian type positions....The dark squared bishop is usually at least as powerful as the rook in the middlegame and black almost always has enough compensation.

This probably is what motivated Nunn to return the exchange, since the bishop was starting to run rampant over the dark squares...But considering the fact that white immediately fell into a worse endgame, perhaps you're right that he shouldn't have returned the exchange so soon
