Dec-30-02  ughaibu: These two really played some fighting games. This one demonstrates the inutility of the check on h4 as asked about by someone recently.
Jun-28-03  mandar: Shirov deserved a win. They both played a aggresive game.
Aug-13-03  ksadler: This game is annotated at http://www.chesscafe.com/text/yaz08... for those who are interested.
Mar-01-04  Whitehat1963: A good example of the Keres Attack played by a good pair of attacking players.

plang: I guess this is a good example of a "modern" opening. Polgar delays developing her K knight in order to avoid the Keres attack but Shirov plays g4 anyway. Typical, I guess, for the wild chess that ensues when these two play each other. Shirov thought that Polgars best continuation was 23..Bg7 with the idea of 24..Qf6. This forces white to continue with e5, Bc6+ and Rg7 with some dizzying complications. If 30..fe 31 Qe4..Qe7 32 Nf7!. 32..Qg6 is a blunder but she is lost anyway.
