Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-11-14  Everett: Larsen strives to win and walks into mate.
Mar-16-15  zydeco: Portisch offered a draw on move 17. Larsen declined thinking that Portisch was demoralized after his two consecutive defeats.

23.Nxb7 is pointlessly risky. With 26.Rd6, white, overestimating his attack, burns his bridges.

On 27....Nd3, Larsen writes: "Now I began to realize just what I'd perpetrated. I spent a lot of time but couldn't find a good reply."

32....a6 was the right way to win.

Mar-16-15  Marmot PFL: A good alternative for white is 8 cd5 hg5 9 de6 fe6 10 Nxg5 Nb6 11 h4 with attack, or 8 ed5 9 Bf4 with some advantage Kasparov vs Portisch, 1986
Mar-16-15  zydeco: <Marmot PFL> 8.h4 is also possible.
