I3illieJoe: That sac didn't make any sense...
Dec-22-06   nimzo knight: Miss calculation on part of black !! I could have easily done it in one of my games. But does this deserve to be GOTD.
Dec-22-06   syracrophy: I found no fun on this game. All that black did was to give a N as X-mas present and nothing more! No real effort by White
Dec-22-06   simontemplar44: Yeah. What's the go? We make these mistakes so that you don't have to!
Dec-22-06   THE pawn: It's just a christmas present that's all.
Dec-22-06   weary willy: A poor game, but it's GOTD so that cg.com can make their fine pun as its strap line. One of the compromises I'm more than happy to accept on this site.
Dec-22-06   Aware: Dope pun!
Dec-22-06   Rubenus: Soltis forgot that combinations and sacrifices only work in a won position, or at least in a better one than here.
Dec-22-06   siggemannen: soltis probably missed that white could defend with ng2

Phony Benoni: Truly, Soltis is a man for all seasons.
Dec-22-06   melv: Looks like one of my unsound sacrifices.
Dec-22-06   Stonewaller2: <siggemannen> or maybe he overlooked 28. Nf3 attacking the Black Q and forestalling ... Bxg2 followed by ... Qxf4 - ? That looks to be the idea behind 25. ... Nh3+, pick up the R left undefended after 25. Nd4.
Dec-22-06   Themofro: A blundered sac, looks very familiar i must admit. However we can forgive cg.com for their most excellent pun.
Dec-22-06   nimzo knight: I didnt get the pun until I put it in google. Now I recall its winter solstice :). People from countries close to equator wont care for this poor game !

playground player: I hate it when I play games like this: attacks that look really strong (to me), but don't finish the job.

kevin86: Boy I hate when I start a series of exchanges and find I've fumbled a piece away. I guess black thought he was going to win a queen with the threats at g2-oops
