Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-28-04  ConLaMismaMano: If 22...fxe4 then 23.Bg4! and mate in h7 is unstoppable or black loses a lot of material.
Jul-28-04  notsodeepthought: 23 Bg4 looks possible but black is still alive after 23... Qf2. Perhaps simply 23 Rf1 ?
Jul-28-04  ConLaMismaMano: You're absolutely right, I missed 23...Qf2. I saw the Queen on b7 and not b6, silly of me.

Now 23.Rf1 seems to be much more solid.

thegoodanarchist: Four steps to playing like Tal: 1) Develop your pieces rapidly; 2) Counter your opponent's threats with your own Zwischenzugs; 3) sacrifice material to draw defenders away from their king; 4) launch your mating attack!

technical draw: The single most important step to becoming a great player is this: dedication...You must decide from the gitgo that nothing will stop you from becoming the best. Not friends, not parties, not other interests. You must eat, drink and sleep chess. Chess has to become your life, nothing else matters. This is true for reaching top level in any field. No half-steppers will get there, no part timers, no amateurs. If you are not willing to give up your life for chess, then be a happy hobbyist.
Dec-08-06  sderby: Tal "developed his pieces in the center and looked for a sacrifice"... helps to have unbelievable creative vision too.
