As pointed out in the contemporary Deutsche Schachzeitung, 14.e6! fxe6 15.Ng5 is winning, because of the direct threat Bxg6 hxg6 Qd3. Black can struggle on vainly with 15...Nf8 16.Bxf8 Rxf8 17.Nxe6.
