| Feb-23-05 | | offramp: Akiva suffers a massive éboulement on the k-side; it's the old Nf5 & Qg4 trick. Pergaps he could have played 12...g6 13.Qf3 Kg7, though it doesn't look too good. |

| Feb-23-05 | | euripides: <offramp> yes, a stunning defeat which bears out the story that Rubinstein wa always blunder-prone and increasingly so in the 1920s. 12...h6 looks OK. 12...de is also quite interesting but if Black tries to win the e pawn he seems to lose to 13 cd Qxe4 14 Qxe4 Nxe4 15 Bxd8 Rxd8 16 Bd5. |

| Oct-26-09 | | DWINS: This game is analyzed in "500 Master Games of Chess" by Tartakower, and also by Irving Chernev in "The 1000 Best Short Games of Chess". <euripides>, both analysts give 12...h6 13.Ng6 winning the exchange. <offramp>, Tartakower says that if 12...g6 13.Qf3 Kg7 14.Nf5+ gxf5 15.exf5 Bb7 16.Qg3 and wins. He says that the best defense would have been 12...Kh8. |

 | | Boomie: <Chessgames.com>
The game title says this is the "Wormald Attack". Shouldn't that read "Worrall Attack"? |
| Oct-26-09 | | Manic: To me, this Nd8-e6 plan just doesnt seem right. I don't play the Ruy much but I thought usually black plays Na5 and c5. You would have thought Rubinstein would realise that after Nh4 Nf5 is coming and he only helps the cause with Ne6 blocking the bishops attack on the f5 square. |
| Oct-26-09 | | Aspirador: Actually, 13...Qd8 might have still been playable, even though not terribly nice to play for black. Definitely better than 13...Qe8? |
| Oct-26-09 | | DWINS: <Aspirador>, Tartakower says, "If 13...Qd8 14.Bxe6 fxe6 15.Nxg7 Kxg7 16.dxe5 with a winning attack. And if 13...Qd7 (the lesser evil) 14.Bxf6 gxf6 15.Rd3, etc." Junior6 likes 15.Qg4+ Kh8 16.d5 Ng5 17.h4 better than 15.Rd3. |
| May-07-12 | | Amarande: <Boomie> Nope, the Worrall Attack is a slightly different variation of the Ruy Lopez: * Worrall Attack: 5 O-O Be7 6 Qe2 (instead of the more usual 6 Re1). * Wormald Attack: 5 Qe2 at once. |
