corbinamman: I don't understand the end. Why 45 Bf3 instead of putting the queen on a safe square, and why is the end position won for white?
Apr-30-03  sangfroid: Becuase after 47 Bc6 there is no way for black to stop the e pawn from being promoted to a queen.
Apr-30-03  Penguin: Sangfroid: can Black not stop the promotion by keeping the rook on the back rank on e.g. h8, and taking the pawn if it gets to e8 (albeit sacrificing the rook). Then it may come down to whether white can convert the bishop vs. f5-pawn advantage. Indeed, does placement of the rook on h8 square with a discovered check buy time for the black king to get to white's e-pawn?

Indeed. 47. Bh5 is better than Bc6. and white
has bishop and three pawns against the f-pawn.
