Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-14-04  kostich in time: This forceful game against a very great master shows just how strong Byrne was in the seventies..its a shame he missed qualifying at Biel by half a point.
Dec-15-04  drukenknight: it looks like 27...Qg4 is not such a good idea. 27...Rg8 maybe survivable.
Mar-20-06  zev22407: The power of a passed pawn.
Dec-08-08  jovack: another great example why the passed pawn needs to be immediately labeled as a threat as soon as it crosses the midpoint
Feb-04-12  King Death: It's a total surprise to see Smyslov playing Black in a French Winawer, he spent a lifetime playing against it!
Apr-13-13  Eduardo Bermudez: One of the best victories for Robert Byrne did: facing to the great Smyslov !
Mar-25-14  jerseybob: With this fine win Byrne not only beats his former favorite defense, but equals the feat of his brother Donald, who beat Smyslov at Mar del Plata 1962.
