Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-02-04  kostich in time: This drastic a win, against a Dragon expert, is an impressive accomplishment. Heubner got his revenge against Sosonko several times after losing to him in 18
Dec-03-04  SicilianDragon: Recently this line has fallen out of favor with most player preferring 12. Kb1 with the idea of 12...Nc4 13. Bxc4 Rxc4 14. g4 or 12...h5 13. h3! preparing 14. g4.

The 16. Bh6 line is not critical, but black has to know the theory. Today it is well-known that 17...Rxc3! (preventing white from using this knight to exchange off the f6-knight, which occurs in this game) offers black at least equality after 18. bxc3 Nf6

Apr-19-10  nummerzwei: <SicilianDragon Today it is well-known that 17...Rxc3! (preventing white from using this knight to exchange off the f6-knight, which occurs in this game) offers black at least equality after 18. bxc3 Nf6>

Of course, this was well-known in 1987 too.
It was even well-known in 1971: Geller vs Korchnoi, 1971

I think that in this game (it was blitz), Sosonko, playing the opening without thinking (he knows it really well, after all), just forgot to insert 17...RxNc3. When he realized it, it was already too late.
