Apr-07-04  ConLaMismaMano: I read some where that this game is a "model" of how white should play in the Caro Kann.
Apr-07-04  kevin86: Did Spraggett give this one up too early? There seems to be play after 34...♔e7.
Apr-07-04  Bears092: 34... Ke7 35. Qxc6 Rxc6 36. R1d7+ Kf6 37. Rxf8
Apr-07-04  ConLaMismaMano: 34...Ke7 35.Qg5+ f6 36.Qg7+ Rf7 37.Rd1d7+ QxR 38.RxQ KxR 39.QxR and white has total advantage (Queen, King and pawns)and black (Rook, King and pawns)
Apr-08-04  kevin86: Thank you both,you are both right! Maybe Spraggett saw that too-I'm sure he did!!
Apr-08-04  ConLaMismaMano: 34...Ke7 37.Qb4+ Qc5 38.Qh4+ f6 39.Qh7+ Rf7 40.Rd1d7++ I think this solution is better.

  offramp: When Spraggett played 18...Nc4 he must have had an inkling to continue with 19...Nd2+. I wondered why he did not play the move, as it seems batter than the game. It might look as if after 21.Rd1 the bishop can be trapped, and it can.

19...Nd2+ 20.Rxd2 Bxd2 21.Rd1 Bg5

( 21...Bh6 22.Bd5 0-0 23.Qh5 Bg7 24.Bxf7+ Rxf7 25.Qxb5 )

22.h4 Rc8 23.Qg4! Rxc7 24.Ba4

23.Qg4! is the move Spraggett may have failed to see in advance.

<offramp>Very nice lines here m8.

  IMlday: 6..♕c7 is suspect. 6..h5!? at once has points, but I haven't researched the theory.
