Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-14-13  jerseybob: An amazing sight to see: Pilnik out-combining the great tactician Stein. After 13.ab,ab analysis of a sideline from Fischer-Matanovic in the Lou Hays collection recommends 14.b4!. But I like Pilnik's 14.de,de 15.Be3/c5 and don't see an antidote for black. 19.Nb5! wins a pawn, seemingly a shaky one, but it gradually strenghthens(aided by 23..c6?) until there's nothing to do but give up.
Dec-04-19  areknames: There is nothing wrong with Black's position until 29...f6. Instead the logical 29...Bxd2 followed by Ke7 centralizing the K leads to equality, as the b6 pawn will eventually fall.
Jun-25-22  jerseybob: <areknames: There is nothing wrong with Black's position until 29...f6. Instead the logical 29...Bxd2 followed by Ke7 centralizing the K leads to equality, as the b6 pawn will eventually fall.> You could be right about that, but I'm trying to figure out why white didn't play 29.N2c4, avoiding the d2 capture and maintaining the guard on b6. Black has weaknesses he must attend to, at e5 and c6. Black may hold this, but I give white an edge.
