Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-05-04   Whitehat1963: Suttles, the major user of the Robatsch defense gets his clock cleaned quickly and convincingly in the opening of the day.
Sep-29-04   centrumspits: What's the follow-up after (Bh6)?

  Willem Wallekers: 29 ... Bh6 30 Rf3
Eliminate the defender!
Sep-29-04   centrumspits: <William wallekers> Thank you very much. You're absolutely right. I was (unnecessarily) under the impression of the battering ram formed on the 7th rank and thought that a move like Be3 was in order to prevent the queen of entering at f2. But after Rf3 there is no time for an invasion.

IMlday: I don't understand 5..Nf6. 5..b6 looks more flexible. Then White played very well and Duncan bamboozled himself trying to win.
Sep-29-04   clocked: It's one of those frustrating situations where taking a pawn with tempo is wrong. By attacking the queen, white is able to move her out of a potential fork. Compare the exact sequence starting with 20...Bxd5 where black has the resource e6 threatening Nf3+.
