Phony Benoni: Marshall would have been proud of this game. After 11 moves, Black's pieces are still on their original squares, but his pawns have built a mighty fortress that White never succeeds in breaking down.
Feb-23-09  MaczynskiPratten: Beheim/Barden in "Chess Wih the Masters" described Black's pawn chain at move 11 as "an iron crush barrier which White's most strenuous efforts fail to buckle" and note that it is quite in keeping with the nature of the game that Black (re)starts his development on move 12 with a Queen move.

Lil Swine: this is mild proof that development doesn't always matter
Dec-05-11  master of defence: Why resign here? I donīt see how black can win after 37. Rxg7+ Rxg7 38. Qxf6. Or white loses in time?
Dec-05-11  master of defence: Oh! I see now! Black wins with 38... Rg1#

offramp: After move 11 white's trouble is that he has already given away two pawns.

So he might want to throw a piece into the wind as well but he cannot do it on spec. By move 16 black still has the two pawns and is level in development.

offramp: Szabo might have been better off playing like Spassky; after 10..exf5,

he should have tried 11.Nf3!

Which would probably lead to a position like this...

...which looks much more promising for white than the game.

An Englishman: Good Morning: White might have chances of saving the game by shunning the sacrifice on move 25. He has already created a powerful dark square on the King side; if he can block the Queen side (*big* if), the result is an unusual fortress with most of the pieces still on the board.
