Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-12-06  azi: A fairly interesting game where white plays an early qd4 with hopes of a quick victory if black misplays the early defense. White gets in nc7+ preventing black from casteling but it costs him 2 pieces for a rook. Szabo blunders his rook as the final move. Good active piece play by Larsen. The 2 bishops are imminently in control of the board.
May-10-20  TOTHZAHU: Does anyone know why this line has been named after Chekhover? To my knowledge it is an invention of the Hungarian Steiner-brothers who employed it frequently before WWII. In a book about the 1978 Olympiad in Buenos Aires, Zoltan Ribli states that the best answer to 4. Qxd4 is 4...Qd7, and this in connection with the game L. Schneider (Iceland) -Z. Ribli (Hungary) in Round 12
