Taimanov played 78 Rf3? (78 gxh5 is a cast-iron draw however Black recaptures) 78..gxh4 and after 79 Kg5 faced the unpleasant choice of a Rook ending two pawns down or a lost King and pawn ending.

79 Kxg4 still held - an example where a ‘natural’ (and hasty?) recapture loses.
