Dec-16-05		Eatman: Unfortunately, I can't find Tal's comments to this particular game I imagine white got scared that their king would get under attack after Bxf6 Qxf6 Qd7 Rad8 Qxa7 Rxd1 Kxd1 but I do not see anything forced for black after that.

May-02-06		notyetagm: Tal neatly ends the game with the <DECOY> 33 ... f1+!, forcing the White h3-queen to be lined up on the first rank with White c1-king for a <SKEWER> after 34 xf1 a1+.

Sep-16-08		tpstar: After 31. Qh3 my student found 31 ... d3 instead: click for larger view The main threat is 32 ... Rf1+! with a quicker Skewer than the game continuation (32. Qg2 Rf1+! 33. Qxf1 Qa1+ & 34 ... Qxf1), and the Rh2 can't leave the second rank due to 32 ... Qc2+ 33. Ke1 Qe2#, or 32. Rd2? Qa1#. White has one check (32. Qe6+ Kh8) but nothing more since the Black Queen guards the long diagonal. I also wonder about this gamescore, with that tasty free piece after 15. Bxf6.

Sep-16-08		mrsaturdaypants: After the continuation Eatman suggests (Bxf6 Qxf6 Qd7 Rad8 Qxa7 Rxd1 Kxd1), Rd8+, and the white king must go left or right. Left looks like it ends badly quickly, while right looks like trouble worth at least a piece. Basically, the white queen ends up totally offsides, and the other three white pieces are bottled up, while black's rook and queen will infiltrate on the d-file and the black squares, with help from the black knight in some lines. I can't begin to calculate it all out, but it looks sound enough for me to bet that the gamescore is right. Seems like the kind of trap Tal might set, and a wary opponent might find and avoid.
